i like photography. i like teaching.
i prefer to work with film; i work in most film formats, but prefer large format. i'm in constant dialogue with myself about what and how i want to photograph; consistently, i arrive in a space where technique meets art. i try to make my images that regardless of intent or meaning have a strong sense of craftsmanship. when i'm out photographing, i have a tendency to lose myself to nerdy conversations with myself about apertures, shutter speeds, and depth-of-field.
as a teacher, i like helping young people activate their expression through art. although, very technical, i also enjoy it when experimentation and failure are a part of the process. this helps me and my students learn and grow. i try to empower critical perspectives while also encouraging my students to take risks and to fail with purpose with the end goal of having a fun and meaningful experience.
