my mother's side or portraits with winter melon

This was the first and last time my mother and her six siblings were together- minus my uncle who passed away at a young age before I was born. In the Chicago Chinese community I grew up in, I have memories of neighbors and family friends showing up unannounced to drop off giant winter melons that they harvested from their makeshift home vegetable gardens. On this occasion, there happened to be one such melons. We decided to commemorate the occasion by taking portraits around the melon.
